2008 Lexus IS F

The 2008 Lexus IS F is the high-performance variant of the IS lineup, built around a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that produces 416 horsepower and 371 lb-ft of torque in factory specification. It was engineered as a driver-focused sports sedan with a concentration on engine response, chassis balance and braking performance.

Powertrain and drivetrain
- 5.0L V8 gasoline engine (factory 416 hp / 371 lb-ft), high-revving design tuned for linear power delivery and a pronounced exhaust note.
- 8-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel paddle shifters and a manual shift mode to provide quicker up- and down-shifts and a sportier driving feel.
- Limited-slip rear differential to improve traction during spirited driving and help deliver power more predictably to the rear wheels.

Chassis, suspension and brakes
- Sport-tuned suspension calibrated for a firm, controlled ride and precise handling; suspension geometry and spring/damper rates tuned specifically for the IS F.
- Performance braking hardware (large vented discs with multi-piston calipers from the factory) designed for repeated high-speed stops and fade resistance.
- 19-inch alloy wheels shod with performance summer tires as the factory fitment.
- Stability and traction control systems integrated with Lexus vehicle dynamics management to coordinate engine, transmission and brake interventions for safety and control.

Exterior
- Aggressive aerodynamic treatment including unique front and rear fascias, larger air inlets, side sills and a rear diffuser incorporated to aid cooling and reduce lift.
- Quad exhaust outlets and a tuned exhaust system that emphasize the V8s sound profile.
- Standard projector-style headlamps and integrated fog lamps; body-colored mirrors and trim elements consistent with a factory sporty appearance.

Interior and comfort
- Sport seats with enhanced lateral bolstering to hold occupants in place under cornering; premium leather upholstery and power adjustments for front seats.
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters and audio/phone controls; tilt and telescoping column for driver comfort.
- Dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows/locks and remote keyless entry as standard convenience features.
- Sport-oriented instrument cluster with a prominent tachometer, performance-styled gauges and multi-information displays.

Audio, navigation and connectivity
- Factory AM/FM/CD audio system with auxiliary input and multi-speaker layout.
- Optional packages at the factory could include an upgraded Mark Levinson premium audio system and in-dash navigation with voice control and rearview camera; these were available as dealer- or factory-installed options rather than standard equipment.

The 2008 IS F was delivered from the factory as a complete performance packagecombining a high-output V8, a responsive automatic gearbox with paddle control, robust brakes and a tuned chassiswhile retaining standard Lexus comfort and safety features. Optional factory and dealer packages expanded luxury, audio or navigation capabilities for owners who wanted additional amenities.
